Antique Quilt Show @ WC Fair

Lena Jones shown with one of the beautiful Friendship Quilts entered...
Leticia Barnes tries to decide which quilt will get her vote for "People's Choice"...

Lena Jones and Susan Phillips discuss some of the entries...
The Antique Quilt Show at the Warren County Fair was something to see as usual. The ladies that organize the display do such a wonderful job. I don't have all their names, but Lena Jones and Reba Jo Newby are two that devote much of their free time to this event. Be sure to watch BLTV channel 6 to see what was filmed about the quilt show. Mrs. Lena always does a fabulous job explaining all the different entries! I don't know how she remembers all that information, I sure couldn't! Thanks ladies for all you do to bring us this quilt show each year!

Goodbye Westwood Bridge!

Our Westwood Bridge was officially closed today. Demolition will begin and a new bridge will be constructed in it's place. A process that will take approximately 15 months. This bridge is as much a part of Warren County history as anything I can think of. Yesterday, I decided to make some photos before the demolition begins. Well.......I wasn't the only one. I saw numerous people with the same idea. Everyone wanted a picture of "their" bridge and to walk across the wooden walkway one more time. I'm sure the new bridge will be wonderful, and it was really needed, but we're all so attached to the old bridge that was part of so many lives...
I walked across these weather boards as a child. This bridge has been there all of my life.
If you lived in Westwood and wanted to walk to town, you had to cross the bridge.
A view upstream toward our house...
A view toward the dam where a new bridge has already replaced another "old" bridge in town...
I wonder if the ducks at Riverfront Park will miss the shade of that bridge?
Here our bridge looks nestled among the trees... Westwood Bridge you will be missed!

Saturday in Knoxville, TN

The pre-game parade is fabulous, as usual...

The streets turn to a sea of orange on game day...
A little of the pre-game show, preparing for the team to run through the Power T!
The crowd roars as the team enters the stadium...(Sorry guys, I missed Lane Kiffin. I'm sure he will eventually earn a photo on here. )

Some crazy fans with body paint (I think all they actually had on was wigs and boxers)...

And the game continues...didn't end to our satisfaction...but there's always hope. Never, never, never give up!

A few tidbits...

My first hand-quilted quilt is finished at last! It took me FOREVER to complete it, mostly because I would go for weeks (and I do mean weeks) and not even touch it. It will be a loooooong time before I tackle a large quilt again. And I can't forget to mention that a dear friend did help me quilt one night and it is very much appreciated. I may not have ever finished if it hadn't been for her!

For the Williams wedding and the Medley wedding...
A recent order for a daygown and bonnet...
For the Crouch wedding...

This little doll slipped inside from the pool and was licking pie filling off the mixer beaters. I think she got more on her nose than in her mouth!

What have I been doing, you ask?

Making a few things...

Something for a little girl (size 8)...

Something for a baby girl with some hand embroidery and pink handmade tatting...
and something for a baby boy with a shadow embroidered kite...
I went on a fabric run the other day and came back with some cute fall fabrics. It's time to prepare things for the fall craft fairs you know.
