The ugliest cake I have ever made! But I promise it was made with lots of love! That gel stuff you write with just runs and ruins everything. I should have left well enough alone after I spread the icing on...but no, I had to get creative. Sometimes I don't know when to stop. Oh well, we live and learn. I bet you can't believe that I had the guts to show this to you! ha ha Happy Birthday to our son Clint. I love you even if I can't decorate cakes!

Getting a little assistance in the candle blowing. Is that cheating? Oh yeah, we didn't put all 22 candles on the cake, so I guess it doesn't matter that he had help.

There might be a little chocolate icing on these candles...should I lick it off????

There is just something about canning jars...

I have always loved canning jars...especially the very old blue ones. The girls at the store wanted to put daffodils on all the deli tables so we're filling these with daffodils tomorrow...

OK. I admit it. I'm excited (I would say obsessed, but that is such a strong word, I won't use it). When wandering through blogland, as I do quite often at night, I stumbled on these gorgeous pillowcases at rosehip.typepad.com I scrolled and scrolled through Beata's blog, the beautiful photos just kept coming. These were the most beautiful pillowcases on the planet. Luscious fabrics (and you know how I love fabric), luscious crochet trim. Did I say "crochet" trim??? Oh. My. Goodness. I can't crochet!!! But, I MUST. I have got to have these. A quick phone call to my friend and she assures me she can teach me to crochet. I must learn, I must! These are the most beautiful pillowcases. I. MUST. HAVE. THEM! I can't get them out of my head. How soon can I get to a fabric store? How on earth will I know what kind of yarn to buy to do the trim? My precious friend goes shopping and comes home with a sack full of the most beautiful colors of yarn that I could possibly want. She knows me so well, she chose the perfect colors for me. (Isn't she so sweet?) A few days go by and I'm checking out the new posts on the blogs that I have linked to my own. I click on Bitty Bits and Pieces - the entry is about another blog "You Go Girl". Cassie at You Go Girl is doing a tutorial on the wonderful pillowcases I saw on Rose Hip! It is such a small world. I am not the only one that was excited over the pillowcases. Thank you, thank you, thank you, from the bottom of my little heart for the wonderful tutorial Cassie. It is so much fun following along. I can't wait to get to the next step. Here is a photo of my two pillowcases so far...

Happy 9th Birthday Kirsten!

Kirsten is 9 years old Sunday,March 14! We love you! Kirsten celebrated her birthday Saturday afternoon, "Candyland" style. I'm sure all the children (and probably some adults too) had a sugar rush after that party! There was every kind of sweet confection imaginable! Even a "Candyland" cake was enjoyed by all. Happy Birthday to our precious princess!

Let's pretend it's spring!

Last year I got an herb garden as a gift from Julie and the gang. It was coming along nicely and then we left for vacation. I decided to sit the little containers outside on the front porch so they could have fresh air (in the shade of course). When returned they were withered away. Finally went to Lowe's the other day and purchased some packages of seeds and have started the process over again. I will not set them outside this time. ;-) Lookie....they are coming up.....let's pretend it's spring. I LOVE spring!

Antique plate project...

Recently I made this cutie from two antique plates and 2 cheap candlesticks. I saw this idea online a few months ago and decided to make my own. I love how it turned out! Easy peasy. All you need are the two plates, two candlesticks and some E6000 glue! If you don't have any plates you want to use for this project, just head on to the nearest thrift store or to the antique stores in Woodbury (my fav). I'm lovin' it! Have you done any easy projects lately? I'd love to hear about them.

TWO Birthdays!
