Happy Birthday Mom!

I made this casserole cover for my Mom for part of her birthday present. Her birthday is Friday, Feb. 27. The closure is a wooden spoon. I saw these somewhere, but can't remember where. This is my version of it, the best I could remember. It will hold a 9x13 casserole dish. This will be great for toting warm casseroles to church dinners. I hope you like it Mom! Happy Birthday!

New Goodies

I have just completed a monogrammed make up bag for a friend's birthday. I won't tell who it is for since she might see this blog before she receives it.

Happy Birthday!

Trudy Horne Trunk Show

Saturday, March 21 Leticia and I made our way to Smyrna to view the Trudy Horne Trunk Show. Ms. Trudy is so very talented. The garments on display were just breath taking. I'm so glad we arrived just as the show started because by the time we had been there a while, it was very crowded. Thanks to Ms. Trudy for having her picture made with us and also for allowing us to photograph some of her garments. We came away with some fabulous ideas and had a wonderful girls morning out!

Tools of the Trade

My wonderful Brother sewing / monogramming machine and just a sample of the thread collection I have accumulated. I love the colors.

Birthday for Bella

Yesterday my friend Tina called and asked me to make something for her niece's birthday. She wanted a little jumper with a monogram on it. After church last night I whipped up this little cutie for her. The birthday girl's party is Saturday. I sure hope she likes her new jumper.

Stitches Update

Today is another beautiful day! I love this gorgeous weather we are having. I know it won't last, but it is great while we have it! It gives me hope that spring is just around the corner.

I have been working a a size 6 months white, smocked bishop. I'm smocking in a pale blue and adding a pale green vine with pink french knots. I should be finished with it very soon.

I went to Stitcher's Playhouse in Smyrna last week. It is a smocker's dream. If you haven't been there yet, you MUST go. They will be having a trunk show Saturday, Feb. 21 featuring Trudy Horne's gorgeous work. I can't wait!

Also in process is a smocked bishop for a special little girl. Her aunt is having me make it for her. Her initials will be incorporated in the smocking. Too cute! I'm not mentioning any names because I'm not sure if it is a surprise or not.

It's time to start thinking about those Easter outfits! I have already been thinking about what to do for my grandchildren. Hummm, decisions, decisions.

Smocked Bishop

Last night I started smocking a size 6 months bishop dress. It is white batiste and I'm doing the smocking in pale blue. Who says baby girls don't need a touch of blue in their wardrobe??? I just love to smock and usually have a project going all the time. I just don't know what to do if I don't have a needle and thread in my hands! I'll post a picture in a few days when I finish it.

I love this warmer temperature today. Almost feels like a heat wave. ha

I got a pix message from Julie this morning showing that Kirsten has lost her other front tooth during breakfast! Way to go Kirsten! I know you're proud to get that out. I bet the tooth fairy loves going all the way to Disney to leave some money! I hope you all have a wonderful vacation! I'll keep those fish in your aquarium fed while you are away.

Pictured is a monogrammed tea towel that I did last night for Christy. Thanks for the order Christy! The towels I have in stock right now are "oatmeal linen" and look beautiful monogrammed in black. I can do the monogram in any color to match your decor.

Smocking Class

Last night's smocking class was so good. Everyone learned the basic smocking stitches and are ready to think about making their first hand-smocked garment! I think Laura may dive into making 2 smocked dresses for Easter. It is definitely time to start thinking about those spring sewing projects. It will be hear before you know it!

I have buttercups trying to bloom in my yard and it always snows on them. I hope this is the only snow they get! It has been enough for me!

Tomorrow night at Westwood we will be having spaghetti for dinner served up by our wonderful youth group! Yum! I can't wait to have dinner with them. I know they will do a fabulous job!

Our daughter and her family are off to Disney Thursday evening. We will be celebrating Julie and Chris's birthdays tonight before they leave. They both have birthdays next week while they will be away. Disney would be a great place to spend your birthday this year since you get a free park pass for your birthday! And I'm sure the weather there is warmer than it is here!

Pillow Case Dress Class Last Night

I had a great time teaching the pillow case dress class last night. Each person went home with a finished dress and the pattern to make MORE, MORE, MORE! I enjoyed everyone's company so much. I got the opportunity to meet someone new - Laura - sooooo very nice and easy to talk to. I look forward to getting to know her better! And Wesley......you're always such a breath of fresh air and make me feel so much younger! Lindsey, we missed you, but I totally understand why you couldn't be there. Maybe next time.

Finally figured out how to add more pictures of the blue dress and the bubble. The price of the bubble is $45 (size 2).

This is a size 7 hand-smocked bishop dress that I made to enter in the fair. (It won Best of Show!) I actually thought my granddaughter could wear it afterwards, I didn't realize she had grown into a size 8. Therefore, I am offering this dress for sale at $65. If you are interested please leave me a comment and I will get back to you. I also have an ivory hand-smocked baby bonnet for a newborn, and a size 2 dark green micro-check bubble hand-smocked with pink watermelon slices. I will try to publish pictures of these also. I can't seem to locate the pictures at this moment. And....I have a couple of other items in the works...a white day gown smocked in white and pink and a day gown made of ivory fabric that has tiny pink rosebuds on it. The gown out of the rose bud fabric will not be smocked...it will have pintucks on each side of the front. I will post a picture when I finish it.

Whew

Whew! I am finally creating a post! I started this process several months ago and never got around to really learning how to do this. I intend to share things I have made on my blog.
